Recently we spent some time with Dave Maslowski, a savvy pro in the world of cosmetic lasers managing Chicago and Northern, Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Northwest Indiana and Michigan.
Here’s what he had to say about business of cosmetic lasers:
Alma: What’s been the biggest surprise about the aesthetic industry?
Dave: Most folks think aesthetics is all about augs and facelifts. My biggest surprise was the amount of reconstructive work docs do at minimal charge to treat burn and accident victims. In addition to this, we see a lot pro bono work on pediatric maladies that could really affect a child’s psychological well being.
Alma: As a rule, the cosmetic lasers industry gives a lot back. It’s a surprise to a lot of people. What’s your favorite part about Alma Lasers?
Dave: After our support team, it’s the product line. Having all wavelengths available to treat ALWAYS enables me to match the practice with the correct product. Also, having true Plug & Play platforms is awesome. The Harmony XL, for example, saves the practice tons of money because new technologies can be added as handpieces rather than complete systems.
Alma: Upgradability creates a huge competitive advantage for our customers, true. What do you predict for the future?
Dave: Our cosmetic lasers will continue to evolve and their capabilities will be expanded. More applications will be added to each platform allowing our customers to serve more patients.
Alma: Thank you for your time, Dave. Is there anything else you’d like people to know?
Dave: Yes – please speak with our consulting staff about the needs of your practice. It’s not uncommon for someone to have an idea that an application is more or less popular than it really is.
